Some Basic Good Diet Food Switches

There are quick substitutes for many of the foods that you commonly eat. For example, if you are wanting to drink chocolate milk, and are outraged at the calories that are in a single serving container, try making your own chocolate milk with skim milk and Hershey’s Lite or Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup.

Here are some more basic food switches a person can do to help lower daily calorie intake:

A Simple Mashed Potatoes Substitute

Want a plate of mashed potatoes and gravy. Switch to a saucer; smaller servings can greatly reduce your calorie count. Or you can boil some cauliflower until extremely tender, and then drain. Using a blender or mixer, smooth until you reach the texture you desire. If you like your potatoes a little runnier, add broth or skim milk. However, add only very small amounts at a time. Too much liquid will make this side dish not so appetizing. You can then add garlic, parmesan, pepper, or salt, and flavor to taste. This easy switch recipe is quite tasty. I have made it many times, trying new things out each time.
